"What Does Tafoya Mean?"
One of the most common questions we get is “What does Tafoya mean?” Well, it’s our family name and at our salon family and community are everything.
George Tafoya started the family’s history of entering the hair industry by becoming a Master Barber in the early 1970’s. Tera Tafoya was soon to follow, entering cosmetology school shortly after. They opened their first salon in 1980 on Coon Rapids BLVD and have never looked back. Their daughters, Sarah and Elyse have followed in their footsteps and are both Master Stylists at Tafoya Salon. Being a part of our community for so long has been amazingly rewarding throughout the years. Multiple generations have come into our space sharing their stories, and lives with us while also walking out feeling fabulous. The last couple years have been proof that it’s not always easy to remain afloat as a small family owned business. However, with the support of not only each other but also from our amazing Team and loyal community around us we will always have a place to create and share with each other.
“We love working with family and inviting our community into our salon home.”
